Improve your home with luxury items

Whenever you go ahead with any home improvements, something that’ll always be at the back of your mind is adding value. This doesn’t just mean monetary value either. When you decide to sell-up, often it’s just as important to have a particular feature in your home that’ll stick in the buyer’s memory.

This feature should be something not particularly common, and give your home a huge bonus over other properties on the market.

But to do this you need to adapt to the changing times and technology. Technology always moves fast so something that’s classy and modern now, could be outdated in five years’ time.

Of course, one of these would be the infamous hot tub, an addition to the home that’s often the envy of your neighbours. But whilst it may be a dream to many, they’re not for everyone. Let’s take a look at the luxury items that are more mainstream.

The wine fridge

Want to make a massive impact in the kitchen with something oozing class and sophistication, then how about a wine fridge? On average you would spend between £500 and £600 on a wine fridge, with lower end products as little as £250. Although you may not think it, wine fridges can be a huge turn-on as when buying a property you’re buying into the lifestyle that comes with it.

Soft-close hinge

A favourite in many properties nowadays is the soft-close hinge which is used to prevent things slamming noisily. They’re available for a number of areas in the home, including toilet seats, drawers and doors. You can pick up these soft-close hinges for a bargain price too, for as little as £6-8 a pair. Once you have them, you’ll wonder how they’re not used in every home.

Built-in BBQ

I know what you’re probably thinking; the British weather isn’t good enough to have a BBQ on standby throughout the year. But the BBQ is a favourite and everyone loves an impulsive burger when the weather brightens up. You could go one step further and create an entire outside area, but it can become quite pricey.

Video entry system

A high-end product that’s certainly worth an investment if you have the money is a video entry system. These work by allowing you to see who’s at the front door without opening. If you’re area is particularly known for a high crime rate, it certainly pays to make the investment. A video-entry system would cost between £500 and £3,000 depending on the make and model.

Turn back time with a fireplace in your home, which will act not only as a great feature, but also allow you to sufficiently heat your living area in the winter. Even a fake fireplace can be attractive to buyers who like the centrepiece. However, it’s the log stoves that really add the aesthetic appeal and luxury value to your property.
